All my life I’ve been thinking that Im supposed to get into business. Im doing an internship this summer and Im realizing finance is not what I want to do. I want to do somethign that Im passionate about, something I love, something that would make an impact.

Today I realized that all I really watch on tv is news. And all day at work, or at school, I read CNN or another news site. I love newspapers and I always know whats going on in the world. Im at a young age and Im at a loss as to what opportunities exist for someone in my situation.
But money is also really important to me as well. How do I make a transition into the industry, or perhaps what route should I take from here? What jobs exist?

Since you are very much interested in the Broadcast media and print media, you can have a career within these fields itself. You can enter the broadcast media as a news reporter, freelance writer, or even a news anchor. Since you are so much into news you can easily find your place in broadcast media.

Be realistic and chill out for a second. If you have enough money to be jumping from one career to the next, than do whatever the heck you feel like. I’m the kind of person who has nothing to start out with so when I start college I need to know what i’m doing. Even if i don’t like it and if i don’t think its for me, I’m still going to be doing it. For me its engineering. I don’t care if i have doubts about it, I don’t have enough money for college to be changing my mind. If your parents are rich and you have money to fall back to than do as you like.
If money is important to you stick to your current business. its amazingly hard to get your face on CNN, most likely youll be stuck in the background doing a stupid job.

I would do a one year Masters in Communications program. That is what you should do and during that program due an internship at a new station. That would look awesome on your resume. Your argument would be that you have the business knowledge at an undergraduate level and you understand communication (theory) at an advanced level to include practical experience due to an internship.
-Project Management
-Radio Broadcasting
-Business Manager (manage the division for items such as scheduling and financial)
Note: You are too close to graduating now to change majors. it can be painful. I switched from a BSBA in MIS but only to a BS in Applied Technology. That was an easy switch but knock out this last year and do a Masters in Communications. Check out the link.
